Don't Tell Someone You Love: "I Just Didn't Know What to Get You"

Because it really means something like "Not only did I neglect to get you a gift, I didn't even think about it much." Or: "I like you, but I just not enough to really know you and understand what makes you happy." At best it stinks of hypocrisy: "I was a jerk and forgot to do something nice for you, but I'm going to pretend like I'm wonderful."

Thankful for loving family, who are gracious even when I say some stupid stuff.
