Do You See His Smile in the Weather

Donald Whitney in The Spiritual Disciplines writes:

"Financial pressures, physical conditions, even the weather are used in the hands of Divine Providence to stimulate His saints toward holiness."

As I write this it is in the eighties and humid (uncomfortably hot for a native Minnesotan). What a pleasure to think that behind this weather is the blessing of God. He orchestrates the most mundane and broad experiences in our life to draw us nearer to himself. Whitney quotes Romans 8:28 just before this. God's promises run so sweet and deep; stay here and drink Christian. Let your mind run over what "all things" means.

No thunderstorm or drought, hot day or cold night, wind or quite comes without God using it to bless His children. There is no "bad" weather; God only has good for us. O, that we might see the pleasant hand of his sovereign care in all the details of life.
