- The obvious reason first: I am not a very funny person. I don't tell a lot of jokes because I can't, not because I dislike them. Half my jokes leave people with blank looks on their faces, not smiles.
- While I am not a great comedian, many people are. There is a lot of competition. I'll admit they have me beat, and I won't compete.
- Humor isn't one of my strengths, but other things are. On this blog I seek to develop some of those things that I believe are my strengths.
- Not only can you easily find amusing and funny blogs, and Twitter feeds, and podcasts, and TV shows, and programs out there, you can find lots of them. While I have nothing against having a good time, I have lots against only having a good time. Amusement is the current our culture swims in. Often fun is valued above good, and this is bad.
- In my experience the funniest and most enjoyable moments in life have come in the midst of some serious pursuit. Sobriety is no killjoy; it is the discipline of real joy.
The point of this post: don't take me too seriously. I am just a funny little human, like you.
I've seen you laugh hysterically, so I'm 100% sure you have a healthy sense of humor!
